Due to a new contract between SAI and major music publishers, all arrangements which have previously been cleared through SAI must be distributed by SAI headquarters, and additional arranger fees are not permitted for those arrangements. Instead, arrangers will obtain a percentage of the per copy revenues. In many cases, this represents a huge financial loss to arrangers as they have initially paid significant sums of money for copyright permission to create arrangements. Choruses and quartets are encouraged to request enough copies for each of their members so that arrangers and publishers are compensated for their creative work and property through their share of per copy fees.

For songs in public domain, there are no song owners, and arrangers may collect fees appropriate to their work.
